Two cleaning ladies inhabit a room that is not theirs.
In the absence of their Madam, they become her.
Power passes between them (worn, performed, repeated) until it becomes difficult to tell where the game ends and something else begins.
Then the interruptions arrive. They cannot be skipped.
Cleaning Ladies: Madam’s Not Home is an experimental drag theatre piece inspired by Jean Genet’s The Maids - filtered through migration, survival, and the bodies of two Filipino immigrant drag queens building a world in a country that was never built for them.
What begins as play fractures slowly, revealing a system far larger than the room they clean. Beneath the laughter, the drag, the karaoke, and the borrowed elegance of an empty afternoon, something else is being scrubbed away: silence, memory, and the traces of what was never meant to be seen.
Performed by Heidi Puto & Tia Tilapia
