About The Event

Theatre | Doors open at 7:30 PM | In Catalan

"I'm a fat woman who has never managed to be thin, despite all the diets, exercise, and sacrifices I’ve made since I was very young. Would my life have been different if I had been thin?"

What is fatphobia? How does it relate to beauty standards? How is it experienced in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood? Catxalot aims to be a kaleidoscope of all the experiences a person affected by fatphobia might go through. Using pop culture references, we explore questions like: What is fat identity—if it exists—and how is it socially constructed?

We are interested in playing with the boundaries of performative explorations and how they can blend with social activism and the performing arts without falling into moralism or theoretical dogma.
