At times half-serious, at times painfully honest, TOMEK is a raw and moving one-man show about loneliness, longing, and the pursuit of happiness — a search for light even in the darkest tunnels. It tells a deeply personal story of perseverance, resilience, and tenacity, inspired by the real life of its creator, a gay Polish immigrant.

TOMEK is an intimate encounter between story and body. The performance blends monologue and physical theatre with elements of drag, movement, music, and dance.

While it deals with adult themes, painful truths, and moments of raw honesty, it is also infused with humour, irreverence, and playfulness — including swearing, nudity, and plenty of surprises. The piece is visually dynamic, featuring multiple costumes and character transformations, a rich musical score, and high physical energy.

Although it is a queer story about a Polish immigrant, it speaks to anyone who has ever felt excluded, lonely, discriminated against, or like an outsider. TOMEK is an empowering reflection on what it truly means to live authentically — even after everything that tried to silence or break you.

The creator and performer is Sebastian, an actor and director who worked professionally in the UK for over 20 years. A year ago, he returned to Poland to develop original, socially engaged theatre outside the institutional mainstream. His work combines strong physicality, minimalist theatrical means, and a clear social voice.

TOMEK is a production by the London-based Big Boots Theatre Company. TOMEK was originally written in Polish and premiered in Warsaw in September 2025. This is a new English-language adaptation and will premiere at The BCN Studio in Barcelona in March 2026.
