Ed Woodall presents a masterclass about Shakespeare and Lecoq and the Four Humours in connection to the Four Elements: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth, starting with a talk and leading to a demonstration of how to take a Shakespeare text and perform it under the influence of each of the four humours. 

After that, there will be four audience members that will come and work on a short bit of Shakespeare, using Lecoq’s four elements, and be directed by Ed, live in front of the audience.

• DEADLINE TO APPLY: February 23rd, 2026

• Applicants will be notified if they are one of the 4 VIP participants on March 2nd, then invited to buy a VIP ticket to secure their place.

• Ed Woodall will then be in touch to help these chosen 4 to prepare to get the most from the event.

These VIP participants will deliver a short Shakespeare monologue. They and the audience will get a feel for what this piece is like before they apply the Humours or four elements to it. 

These four VIP participants will then do a short but punchy version of the piece, applying each of the elements Air, Fire, Water and Earth, and they will continue to work with the elements live in front of the audience.

Performer/Director: Ed Woodall

Ed Woodall is an actor, award-winning director and teacher. 

He studied with Jacques Lecoq and has worked in theatre, film and TV ever since. 

Ed’s credits span the key roles at the Royal Shakespeare Company, stints with Complicite, Kneehigh and Improbable theatres. 

Films include Master and Commander, Enigma and Emma. 

Een Hond Begraven won Ed a Time Out award in 2001, and since then Ed has taught innovation in theatre at Rose Bruford, East 15, The Oxford School of Drama a many more. 

Ed is also an experienced Feldenkrais practitioner and recently Ed has had his book Shakespeare and Lecoq published by Arden/Bloomsbury. 

Ed Woodall will also be teaching the intensive workshop "Love Changes Everything"
