A mobile rings...“Wow! What’s this? A butt call?” “No, dad. It’s bad, really bad. It’s Tom…” ... a call no parent wants to get. The true story of the 6 days following that call - the pain, the blame and the questions. A “lived experience” one-man-show that is both moving and funny. **** The Scotsman

A sunny morning on the beach playing in the gentle waves with his young daughter and his mobile phone rings.

It will be a call that will change everything.

A true and personal (and often funny) story of how a father tries to come to terms with a son’s fatal decision. A journey to try and make sense of what seems senseless.

Someone and something must be to blame for what Tom did – was it him, his ex, their arguments, Tom’s friends, his upbringing, his girlfriend, drink or drugs, the tattoos, his genes or just him and it was always meant to be?

There must be an answer out there somewhere.

With a soundtrack including music by Tom himself and others who have taken their own lives, a father tries to understand the waves that overwhelmed his son.

Written and performed by Jonathan Salway.

Jonathan has played in The Mousetrap in London’s West End and for the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as appearing in Three Seconds and Ninth on Netflix.

Directed by Gavin Robertson.
